Nowadays, the importance of training to improve the performance of professions is obvious to everyone. Translation industry pathology in Iran indicates that the training provided at the universities are not sufficient for translator training; therefore, the graduates in translation require additional training to achieve necessary standards for professional activities as translators. On the other hand, promotion of knowledge is undeniable for the professional translators. Translator’s and Interpreters’ Association of Tehran, recognizing this necessity, provides mandatory and optional courses. The Association’s mandatory training courses are credited in the framework of translators’ rating system. The purpose of providing optional training courses is improving general and specialized knowledge of the registered translators. Providing systematic and strategic training programs, exploiting outstanding professors’ knowledge in different fields of translation industry, using superior training facilities and providing valid and binding academic-professional certificates are some features of the Association’s practical training courses.
