Iran's International Translation Award
Many people are attracted by culture and literature of Iran and translation is a good medium to make an effective connection between them.
International and national awards for works translated with the purpose of supporting the works to be presented abroad are among the means used by countries to familiarize the rest of the world with their own culture.
There are many supportive programs in Iran planned to increase the number of works translated from Persian to other languages. Translators and Interpreter's Association of Tehran (TIAT) is also intended to pave the way for Iran's International Translation Award. The 4th National Ceremony of Translators & Interpreters in Iran would be a promising start on this way.
Iran's International Translation Award Committee, composed of the contributors of translation industry, has build-up a data bank of translated works focusing on giving awards to the works-in juvenile literature-translated from Persian to English over the past 5 years. Hopefully, this award will be given to contest winners in different fields and languages in the next years.
Eligible works will be assessed regarding translation quality, production, distribution and feedbacks by target audience. Translator who outvotes others wins the award.
Saadi Foundation grants award winner a Sabbatical Leave for 2 weeks or more in Iran to learn more about Persian literature.
