The South African Translators’ Institute is holding its Third Triennial Conference this year. The conference is also the occasion for awarding our Prizes of Excellence and celebrating International Translation Day, which is marked worldwide as an official UN day on 30 September. We have an interesting range of presentations lined up. The keynote speaker is the immediate past president of the International Federation of Translators (FIT), Henry Liu, who will without doubt inspire delegates with his insights and enthusiasm! We are also honoured to have the current FIT president Kevin Quirk as the guest speaker at the awards ceremony. We furthermore have a remote presentation lined up with Chris Wendt, a key figure in Microsoft’s machine translation programme.
Registration for the conference is now open. All the details are available on our website at http://translators.org.za/sati_cms/index.php?frontend_action=display_text_content&content_id=5210. The closing date for early-bird registrations is 31 July.
Note that delegates qualify for reduced accommodation rates at the Emperors hotels for the duration of the conference; bookings must be made and paid for online. Details are also available on the website.
We look forward to seeing you at the conference!
